18A - Creating a Customer Avatar
This is my customer avatar Jose. Jose is a huge soccer fan, who lives in Miami. He is 15 and currently plays for the newly developed Inter Miami CF's academy team but is said by many scouts that he has the potential to go abroad. Jose's dream is to be like Cristiano Ronaldo and play for Real Madrid one day. He loves him so much he even styles his hair like him.
Jose wants to be the best soccer player he can be, but his parents want him to get an education. They want him to get a scholarship and attend the University of Virginia, which has one of the best college soccer programs and is known as a great school. Jose believes he is already better than some of these college players however. His life has always been soccer and the only things he watches and plays is soccer. He believes he can already be a pro at this age; he just needs the right connections and proper European training. This is why he is my prototypical customer.
The only real common things I have with Jose is that we are both huge fans of soccer and that I used to also play for a soccer academy except it was DC United when I was 11. I was never good enough to be pro, however, let alone play in college. I do not think it is a coincidence we both love soccer. He is a big time player and I want to be involved in his development. We are also both foreign from countries where soccer is the main sport. I believe Jose is my ideal prototypical customer.

I think that Jose is a perfect fit for your academy. I think that however you could make the academy bigger and train them from a younger age like the European countries and that might be better for the player and you as an owner. You could develop them into player while you teach them what they need to learn.
ReplyDeleteHello Arman!
ReplyDeleteReading about your customer avatar got me thinking – why would potentially good soccer players chose to stay in the U.S.? You’ve mentioned that not only is the training better in Europe, but I also know that the top soccer players can make a lot more money in Europe. As a result, if he’s good enough to go, I think Jose would probably chose to go over there instead of struggling here in the U.S. In order to overcome this desire to leave, America needs to step its soccer game up as an industry, not just improve its academies.
Hi, Arman! I think it's really great how you pinpointed your prototypical customer so specifically. Jose seems like someone I would know and even without your customized avatar, I feel like I would be able to picture him in my head solely from your description. Being able to identify that customer and figure out their wants and needs will definitely help your business grow successfully.
ReplyDeleteHey, I loved reading the post. You were very detailed with the customer avatar. I was able to see everything and even imagine someone with a face. It wasn’t just an avatar. With your product, it is easy to see that Jose is your prototypical customer and I think you have a good understanding of who you want to adhere to. I would say that I like your idea but I think it could be a little bigger and focus on smaller groups and work to meld into a big group for training in the US to grow the soccer competition.
